Workshop
Rational Points - Theory & Experiment
Tuesday, 25th May - Saturday, 29th May, 2010
Institute for Mathematical Research (FIM), ETH Zürich, Switzerland
Organizers: Ulrich Derenthal (Universität Freiburg; now: Leibniz Universität Hannover) & Gisbert Wüstholz (ETH Zürich)
The workshop covers a wide spectrum of problems in arithmetic algebraic geometry and number theory that are related to rational points on curves and higher-dimensional algebraic varieties. Here, the most important questions are concerned with the
existence,
finiteness,
distribution of rational points,
effectivity of the methods involved.
The main goal of this workshop is to bring together researchers working on the theoretical and experimental aspects of these questions, using methods such as
diophantine geometry,
analytic number theory,
L-series,
p-adic analysis and geometry,
large-scale computer algebra experiments
