August 2014
Welcome to the new term. There are big changes in progress at Ratho Primary School and the Parent Council is where parents and carers can find out lots more about the expansion plans. We are expecting that Edinburgh City Council will give the go ahead in January 2015 for a new 4 classroom building within the school grounds to cope with the increasing school roll. Parents will be kept involved and informed of this exciting development for the school through the Parent Council. Our meetings for this term are planned for Tuesday 2nd Sept, Thursday 23rd October and Monday 8th December. All our meetings are open to any adult with a child in the school - you don't need a special invitation - just come along and you will hopefully be made to feel very welcome!

Come along to our Family Fun Day on Saturday 23rd August - a chance to meet lots of other families who have children at the school and an opportunity to explore the fantastic school grounds.

We work closely with Ratho PTA (a group who focus on organising fundraising events to support the school) and whenever we meet on the first Tuesday of a month, we always have a joint meeting with the PTA for the first 30 minutes. That way we all keep in touch with what each other is doing.

May 2014 - AGM
Our previous office bearers were all re-elected for another year. Both Annette and Christine indicated that this would be their last year in the roles of treasurer and secretary. The minutes of the AGM can be viewed here.

Headteacher Interviews - December 2012

Congratulations to Ms Penrose on her new appointment as head-teacher at Hermitage Park Primary School in Edinburgh.

The interviews to appoint a new head-teacher for Ratho Primary will take place on Tuesday 11th and Tuesday 18th December. There will be 2 parent council members on the interview panels to represent our views. We will also have some input to some of the questions that will be posed at these interviews. For more information or to contribute to the discussion please come along to the next Parent Council meeting on Tuesday 4th December, 7.30pm at the school.

Homework Survey May 2012

We recently completed a homework survey across the school. Thanks for all your responses - 69 forms were completed.
The results of the survey will be used by the school next term to input to the development of a new whole school homework policy that will look to encourage a more standard approach to setting homework throughout the school.

The full survey results are available here.

If you have any further comments you would like to add please email the parent council -
If you would be interested in getting involved with the development of homework policy in the school you can contact Ms Penrose directly -
