Playing Career

Declan captained Kerry to all-ireland victory over Mayo and repeated his role as Kerry captain from the 2006 all-ireland championship final against Mayo. Declan lost his place in the side after the Munster Final Replay defeat to Cork but won his place back to lead the team out for the All Ireland Final.
