Today I received the application from Glen Warnstaff - K5CPD who has been helping us with this process. I signed the documents and mailed them with the application fee to the IRS. Glen said it would take a couple of months before we hear back from them.

I just wanted to say a special thanks to Glen for his help in doing this. All he asked was for us to pay him for his expenses. Thanks again Glen for your time and efforts in this process.

We have received approval from the Secretary of State for our application for formation of corporation. So the name of the club is Rockwall Amateur Radio Club, Incorporated. I also have completed the form to obtain an EIN number with the IRS. We have that approved also and have the number for the club. I will be receiving some documents in the next week that is part of the beginning process of the IRS form for 501 (c)(3) status.

Check back for more updates and information.

501 (c) (3) Approved by RARC Members

At the February club meeting, the members approved to move forward with obtaining the club's 501 (c) (3) status. This status will give the club and its member’s protection against lawsuits during club events. Also give us tax exemption and ability to accept cash donations. In addition, we also approved to become a non-profit incorporation with the State of Texas. This incorporation is the first step in obtain the 501 (c) (3) status. The current officers of the club and David Kaun (N5DBK) agreed to be designated as the club's Board of Directors.

We hope to have the Incorporation application completed by the next club meeting. Once we have that, then we will start the IRS application (501 (c) (3)).

Check back for more updates as we have them.
