Dr. Ramakrishna Mundugar is an Associate Professor at the Department of Data Science and Computer Applications (DSCA), Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal, India, since 2009. He completed his B.E. in Computer Science and Engineering from Vivekananda College of Engineering and Technology, Puttur, India, in 2008, and his M.Tech. in Network Engineering from Manipal Institute of Technology, MAHE, in 2010. He earned his Ph.D. in Multimedia Communication from MAHE, Manipal, in 2019, under the guidance of Dr. Karunakar A. K.
He has gained significant international research experience, having worked as an Early Stage Researcher at the Intel Visual Computing Institute, Saarland University, Germany (2018), and as a Guest Researcher at the Telecommunication Labs, Saarland University, Germany (2014). He also served as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate in the Visual Computing Group at the University of Bath, UK.Â
Currently, he holds the position of Assistant Director for International Relations and Faculty Advisor for the IAESTE India Local Committee at MIT, Manipal. In these roles, he focuses on strengthening international collaborations, increasing student and faculty mobility, and supporting research initiatives.
At MIT, Dr. Ramakrishna has also been actively involved in teaching and mentoring students on projects related to multimedia communication and networking, furthering advancements in these fields through his research and teaching. His research interests include Image/Video Processing, Virtual Reality, Computer Graphics, Video Adaptation, Network Protocols, Routing Algorithms, and Software-Defined Networks.
