The opening of the exhibition In omnibus glorificetur Deus is TODAY!

The first exhibition got its name

It is our considered opinion that the name of our first exhibition will be “In omnibus glorificetur Deus“. This exhibition will present the history of the monastery in the last two centuries when it was promoted to abbacy. Exhibition opening will take place in Rajhrad on April 24th 2013.

Our project team has done a great job

From March to the end of December 2012, total number of 3,889 records of old prints, 1,099 records of graphic art pieces, 49 records of manuscripts (i.e. 20 manuscripts from manuscript collection and 29 manuscripts from the library) were added to the catalogue. From the archive of the Rajhrad Benedictine monks it was processed 513 maps, plans, personal files, personal notes, correspondence, etc. The records are accessible in the catalogue of the Moravian Library.

A part of our project also describes the occurrence of microorganisms in the book collection

The results can be seen in the pictures. However, visitors do not have to worry about their health.They are cordially invited to visit the monastery. Neither visitors nor researchers are in danger. (Researchers who work with the books every day are absolutely healthy!)

The colleagues from the Faculty of Environment in Ústí nad Labem, Department of Informatics and Geoinformatics, prepared the first map applications and beta versions of 3D model of the monastery and map presentations on map server.


We attended the Bibliotheca Antiqua conference in Olomouc

Jindra Pavelková presented our project “Rajhradský klášter jako kulturní fenomén” (Rajhrad Monastery as a Cultural Phenomenon). You can read all conference papers in Czech and their English resumes on web sites of the Research Library in Olomouc.



We visited the monastery and library in Pannonhalma

On September 17th–18th 2012 we were in the Hungarian monastery Pannonhalma. There are 400,000 books in the library, and this number keeps growing all the time thanks to donations, inheritances etc.
