On September 11th, the Resource Association in Special Education in District 102 (RAiSE) will host a discussion about handling the challenges children and families face in transitions. For many children a change in routine or schedule can be challenging. Teresa Fitzgerald, MA LMFT a psychotherapist and District parent will facilitate this discussion about working through the challenges presented by a child who has trouble handling transitions – both at school and in the home. We will answer your questions and touch on topics related to behavioral, developmental, social and emotional issues affecting a child’s ability to successfully handle transitions. In addition, strategies that are seen helpful by therapists, teachers and parents will be discussed. Bring your questions, suggestions, and helpful tips. This is an opportunity for parents to offer each other help and support.
This meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, September 11th at 7:00 PM in the Park Jr. High LRC (333. N. Park, LaGrange, IL 60525).
Ms. Fitzgerald, MA LMFT is a psychotherapist in private practice in Oak Brook, IL and at the Child and Adolescent Clinic at the Chicago Psychoanalytic Institute. She specializes in working with children, adolescents and their families.
