On Tuesday, March 12, the Resource Association in Special Education (RAiSE) and District 102 are co-hosting a presentation on Anxiety at School by Patrick McGrath, Ph.D.  Anxiety at school is an unfortunate and growing trend.  During the presentation, Dr. McGrath will review the ways anxiety manifests itself in the school setting including: all out school refusal, panic attacks in school, and the “magic stomach ache.”  In addition, he will discuss how to assist students who are anxious and will give advice to families about how to handle a child with anxiety.

Dr. McGrath is the Director of the Alexian Brothers Center for Anxiety and Obsessive Compulsive Disorders and the Co-Director of the School Anxiety and School Refusal Program at Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. He was recently featured on the Discovery Health Channel’s Documentary “Anxious” and on three episodes of “Hoarding: Buried Alive” for The Learning Channel. He also does numerous speaking engagements internationally, has an active research program, and trains students in the treatment of anxiety disorders.  For additional information about Dr. McGrath, click here.

This meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 12 at 7:00 PM and will take place in the LRC at Park Jr. High (333 N. Park, La Grange IL).
