National Dissemination Center for Children with Disabilities (NICHCY)

This center provides information on: disabilities in infants, toddlers, children, and youth; IDEA, which is the law authorizing special education; No Child Left Behind (as it relates to children with disabilities); and research-based information on effective educational practices.

Illinois ASPIRE -- (Alliance for School-based Problem-solving and Intervention Resources in Education) is an initiative of the Illinois State Board of Education.  ASPIRE is designed to increase the capacity of school districts to provide early intervening services aligned with the general education curriculum, to at-risk students and students with disabilities.

The Parent & Educator Partnership (PEP) is an Illinois Statewide Technical Assistance Center (ISTAC) of the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE). The PEP project advances the ISBE's priority to improve the delivery of training and technical assistance to parents of school age children and educators.

Reading Horizons -- the Foundation for Reading English.  Reading Horizons is the premier, proven solution for teaching reading to students of all ages.

Monahan & Cohen Link Page -- The law firm of Monahan & Cohen maintains a general practice of law with an emphasis on the legal problems of health care and human services providers and on the legal needs of children and adults, including the elderly, with mental, developmental and physical disabilities or substance dependency and their families.  This page contains links to National Organizations and Federal Resources concerning Special Education and Disabilities.

Family Resource Center on Disabilities -- Providing parents of children with disabilities with information, training, assistance and support.  This organization provides information and referral services regarding IDEA, the Rehabilitation Act, and related state laws.  They also conduct free seminars on the special education rights of children at their Chicago Loop location  and prepare Chicago youth for adulthood by offering individualized transition planning and other transition support services.  This organization provides services in English and Spanish.

Set Connections -- Promotes the use of technology as a solution for special education.
