Cross table
Maidstone v Rainham
Rainham opened their account in the Summer Quickplay with a good win over a strong Maidstone team. After electing to have white in rounds 2 and 4 the first round ended all square at 2 apiece. The second round finished in Rainham's favour with wins for Tom and Martin and after our 3.5 - 0.5 victory in the third round of games it meant that Maidstone required a 4-0 sweep to tie the match in the final round. With Rainham having white another 2-2 enabled us to win the match 10-6.
Martin Taylor scored 3/4, Tom Stonehouse 2/4, Andy Waters 2/4 and Rob Springett 3/4
Folkestone v Rainham
We won the toss and elected to take white in rounds two and four. Folkestone edged the first round 2.5-1.5 but fortunes were reversed in round two so the teams were tied 4-4 at the half-way stage. Unfortunately only Martin scored as we lost the third round 3-1 leaving us with a hill to climb in the last round. However it wasn't our day as we succumbed 2.5-1.5 to leave Folkestone worthy winners.
Individual scores for Rainham were Martin Taylor 3/4, Trefor Owens 1/4, Andy Waters 2.5/4 & Paul Giddins 0/4.
As Folkestone have now won all three of their fixtures they will go through to the semi-final stage.
Rainham v Medway
This was a game with Folkestone already qualifying had no bearing on if we could progress in the competition. Medway won the toss and as expected decided to have white in rounds 2 and 4. Medway had the early initiative with only Martin winning and a draw from Rob losing on time but his opponent having a solitary King. The roles were reversed in round two leaving both teams tied at 4-4 at the half way stage. After Medway restoring their 1 point lead after round 3 this meant we had to win the final round to at lead draw the match. A 3-1 result in the final round saw Rainham winning 8.5 - 7.5 in a close hard fought match.
Individual scores for Rainham were Martin Taylor 4/4, Andy Waters 1/3, Tom Stonehouse 1/1, Rob Springett 2/4 & Gary Clifford 0.5/4.
