Cross-table
Rainham v Tunbridge Wells
With Rob playing as a first round substitute for Sydney and winning round one, we then had to come from behind after losing round 2 by a margin of 3-1. After comprehensively winning round 4 we eventually won this close match by 9.5 - 6.5.
Martin Taylor scored 3.5/4, Andy Waters 2/4, Sydney Lunga 2/3, Paul Giddins 1/4 and Rob Springett 1/1
Medway v Rainham
Fortunes can swing wildly in these matches so it is important to get a good start. We settled our nerves by winning the first round 3-1 to establish an early lead. We then maintained our two point advantage by tying both the next two rounds. We pulled further away in the last round to run out 9.5-6.5 victors.
Individual performances were Martin Taylor 3.5/4, Tom Stonehouse 2/4, Andy Waters 4/4 and Paul Giddins 0/4.
Maidstone v Rainham
This looked to be a close match and that is exactly how it turned out. After the first round ending in a draw, Rainham took a one point advantage at the half way point with a successfully wining the second round of matches. That is how it stayed going into the final round with Maidstone having to win the round 3-1 to win the match. With the match delicately poised at 7.5-7.5 Rob Springett agreed a draw by perpetual with David Heath to draw the Match
Individual performances were Martin Taylor 3/4, Tom Stonehouse 2/4, Andy Waters 2/4, and Rob Springett 1/4.
Rainham v Weald of Kent
This was a game that we needed to win and Weald of Kent knowing that a draw would be sufficient for them to go through. Although the result looked like a comprehensive victory it was far from being that. The first two rounds finished with a point advantage in each of the first two rounds and after a hard fought third round draw it final looked like it was finally swinging into Rainham's favour. With the weald of Kent now needing to win 3-1 to draw the match the final outcome was to be a 4-0 whitewash, this was rather harsh compared to how the first 3 rounds had panned out.
Individual performances were Martin Taylor 4/4, Dave Barnes 3/4, Andy Waters 3/4, and Rob Springett 1/4.
Semi-Final
Rainham v Charlton
The semi-final was a rematch of last years fixture at this stage of the competition and was hoping of a similar result but this time around it wasn't to be. We were always behind on the match score after a poor first round losing heavily 3-1. This then followed of winning round 2 and drawing round 3 to find ourselves with an outside chance if we could overcome the deficit of a single point. The fourth round however was an overwhelming victory for Charlton winning 3.5-0.5, with this seemingly being a bit harsh as for most of the match was a lot closer then the final score suggested.
Individual performances were Martin Taylor 3/4, Dave Barnes 1.5/4, Andy Waters 1.5/4 and Rob Springett 0/4.
