Rainham has been drawn in Group "A" of the KCCA Summer Quickplay, along with Maidstone, Medway, Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells. The winners of the group will qualify for the semi-final stages of the competition.
Tunbridge Wells v Rainham
After losing our first round we had good wins in round 2 and 3 with only a single draw in the final round was needed. We drew the final round giving a 10-6 victory at the end of the 4 rounds. Martin Taylor scored 4/4, Andy Waters 1.5/4, Paul Giddins 2/4 and Rob Springett 2.5/4
Medway V Rainham
A close fought match wiith Rainham just edging Medway after the final round 9-7. In a tense finish Martin Reeve held his nerve to deliver the winning point after winning on time with having a matter of seconds remaining himself. Martin Taylor scored 3/4, Dave Barnes 3/4, Paul Giddins 2/4 and Martin Reeve 1/4
Rainham v Tonbridge
Tonbridge couldn't raise a team so forfeited the match.
Rainham v Maidstone
After drawing the first round and then as white losing the penaltimate round 3-1 it looked as if this would be out of our reach. However the final round went above our expectations with a 3.5-0.5 victory and winning the match 9-7. Dave Barnes scored 2.5/4, Andy Waters 2/4, Paul Giddins 2/4, Rob Springett 2.5/4
Semi-Final
Charlton v Rainham
We got off to a flyer winning the first round 3.5-0.5 with the black pieces and then held off Charlton to run out winners 9-7. Dave Barnes scored 1.5/4, Paul Giddins 1/4, Martin Taylor 3/4 & Andy Waters 3.5/4.
Final
Rainham v Beckenham
After drawing the first two rounds 2-2, the third round went badly after managing just half a point. This meant we needed to win the final 4-0 round but sadly it wasn't to be. Martin Taylor scored 3/4, Dave Barnes 2/4, Andy waters 1/4 and Paul Giddins 0/4
