Standing: Fine, Dr. Tartakower, Dr. Vidmar, Bogoljuboff, Tylor, Alexander, Flohr, Reshevsky, Botvinnik, MacKenzie.Seated: Thomas, Dr Lasker, Capablanca, (Alderman Derbyshire & Mrs Derbyshire), Euwe, Alekhine, Winter.Capablanca and Botvinnik were joint winners with 10/14. The event is one of the strongest tournaments ever held featuring the reigning World Champion, his three predecessors and his successor. Together these five players held the title nearly continuously for over 70 years.Lasker (1894 - 1921), Capablanca (1921 - 1927), Alekhine (1927 - 1935) & (1937 - 1946), Euwe (1935 - 1937), Botvinnik (1948 - 1957), (1958 - 1960) & (1961 - 1963).Alekhine died in 1946 leaving the title vacant for 2 years, Smyslov held it briefly from 1957 as did Tal in 1960.
