Rainey's goal is to become one of the thought leaders in the topic of "Renewable Energy in Developing Countries". She works in the nexus of energy technology, education, and entrepreneurship with a public policy lens. Her experience designing locally made energy systems with technicians and engineers in Uganda has informed Rainey's current career and research goals to delve deeper into testing the validity and viability of heuristic programs in energy education to aid in technology innovation. She also has had the opportunity to work with grid efficiency technology, specifically Demand Response, which has expanded her research and career interests to include grid efficiency. She is currently pursuing further education in Energy Technology Policy as a Masters Student at The Georgia Institute of Technology where she is learning policy implications of energy technology.
