rain dog . . . a dog caught in the rain, with its whole trail washed away by the water unable to find its way back home

Rain Dog Rescue's mission is to create "the way home" for Chicago's traditionally overlooked canines.  We focus on canines considered to be a challenge due to their breed, medical issues or behavioral challenges that need extra attention, care, training and time to become healthy, confident, well mannered adoptable family pets.

The Rain Commitment

RDR provides, sometimes for the first time in their lives, "luxuries" (housing, food, fresh water, treats, bedding and toys) that most people and pets take for granted.  Each canine is provided full medical care and a behavioral evaluation as a foundation RDR continues to build on, ensuring placement of each dog is the best match with a permanent guardian.

Little Lolita needs our help and we are asking for your help to raise some funds for Lolita's medical costs.  At 10-years-young, Lolita had been living on the streets of Chicago until she was turned in as a stray to Chicago Animal Care and Control with a skin infection, in desperate need of a dental, and has developed stress colitis since being placed at CACC.  This adorable chihuahua looks for visitors each day and recognizes the volunteer who is trying so hard to help Lolita find her way to rescue.  Lolita has managed to escape the euthanasia list once.  Please help her jump to rescue and consider giving a little or a lot to helping Little Lolita become a "Rain Dog" and take the first step in finding a loving home.  Donate to our PayPal account or follow this link for Little Lolita's personal fundraising page.  Help Lolita Find Her Way Home!

Looking for a Perfect Match

Meet Elvis
.  Our rockstar pup has had a bit of a rough road but is doing great in his foster home.  He is all love, hugs and kisses and would do well in almost any home.  He does have epilepsy, but it doesn't slow him down.

Meet Aishah.  This sweet girl surprised us when it turned out she had separation anxiety.  Unfortunately, it wasn't manageable in her adoptive home and she is back in foster care and looking for someone who can provide the supportive environment she needs to gain confidenence and overcome her axiety.

Meet Gooney McLovin.  This pup has just come into our care.  At just 3-4 months old, he  has mange and potentially other medical issues.  We'll provide updates as our boy, who is just starting to discover the world around him, improves and is ready for a home of his own.
There are so many ways to help. Email Rain Dog Rescue at RainDogRescue@gmail.com for more information.

Meet Darwyn (fka Duncan).  This boy has a village of supporters behind him ... that's how he found his way from CACC and into RDR's care and a foster home.  He escaped euthanasia and is healing/recovering from a demodex skin infection.  At just about a year old (that's a guess!) he is a sweet pup - cuddles and belly rubs.  He unknowingly helped Gooney to RDR and now he is looking for a home of his own too.

Meet Odie.  Just 6-months-old, little Odies was saved from his abusive owner.  Unfortunately, the rescuer wasn't in a position to keep Odie and sought helpo from the Anti-Cruelty Society.  Thanks to a wonderful member of the rescue community and Rockstar Pups, Odie has a secon chance to find a loving home.
