The perfect weekend destination for those looking for peace, comfort and privacy. Only 15min walk to Palm Beach through the bush reserve, and 35min by ferry from downtown Auckland.

This attractive 6 year old home is fully equipped, sunny and warm with 2 good size bedrooms (both with queen beds), full bathroom and a separate toilet.

The open plan living, kitchen, dining opens out to a north facing sunny and private deck which borders a bush valley reserve.

The lounge has a TV, DVD player, music system and has a selection of books, DVD’s and CD’s for your use.

The kitchen is fully equipped with cutlery, crockery, microwave, full oven, coffee plunger, espresso machine, toaster, and large fridge freezer.

There is a gas BBQ  on the sunny deck and outdoor table and chairs overlooking the bush.

All you need is your food and clothes, everything else you will find in the cottage. So whether for a cosy winters break with a good book, and long walks on the island, or a summer beach and wine holiday, you can’t beat a break away on Waiheke Island.

Waiheke is just a 35 minutes ferry ride from downtown Auckland and is situated in the beautiful Hauraki Gulf. It is the second largest of the Hauraki Gulf Islands, and its most accessible with regular passenger and car ferry services. Ferries leave downtown Auckland almost every hour for the picturesque 35 min trip to Matiatia, buses connect with the ferry arrival. The Palm Beach bus has a stop at the top of the garden of Lamu Cottage.

Do you need a car?

Well if your heading to the island for longer than a long weekend it can be worthwhile having the freedom to explore,  however if its just a weekend getaway and you enjoy walking you realy don't need one. I never take my car over as its great haveing a total rest plus buses are excellent.
