Going up into the Land

B’ruchim Haba’im - Welcome to Israel. Shekhiyanu- Welcome ceremony on top of Tel Jaffa overlooking modern Tel Aviv and tour the alleys of Old Jaffa. Dinner at the Hotel - Schluf.

The Hebrew City and the Jewish State

Drive to Rehovot for a guided tour of the Ayalon Institute an underground bullet factory used by Jewish forces before the founding of the State of Israel. Relive David Ben Gurion declaring the new State of Israel at Independence Hall - Hear about the establishment of Tel Aviv at the Founders’ Monument then stroll down Rothschild Boulevard to view the Bauhaus architecture for which central Tel Aviv’s “White City” was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Lunch on our own and free time to explore the Nachalat Binyamin crafts fair. Checkout the nearby Carmel Market and bohemian Sheinkin Street – All Three of these Tel Aviv icons meet at the “Magen David Junction”. the off to the Museum of the Jewish People. This unique global institution tells the ongoing and extraordinary story of the Jewish people Free time to swim in the Mediterranean Sea and enjoy the beachside Promenade.

Wednesday, 30 May

Start out at the coastal town of Caesarea is a town in north-central Israel. Located midway between Tel Aviv and Haifa on the coastal plain near the city of Hadera, 

Depart for northern Israel via the coastal road.  After passing Ancient Caesarea, continue to Atlit for a visit to the Shoshana Boutique Winery 11:00 hr.  Voted one of the 10 best boutique wineries in Israel. Afterwards continue to the site of the former Atlit detention camp at 14:00 hr. where the British held Holocaust refugees caught trying to enter the country “illegally”. Board an “illegal immigration ship” to watch a multimedia presentation about the heroic pre-State immigration. Guided tour of the Ein Hod Artists' Colony 15:30 hr. led by a local artist.   Drive via Haifa and the Bahai Gardens, continuing to Tiberias for Check–in at Hotel Overnight:  Rimonim Galei Kinneret,  . Dinner at hotel. Wonderful friends outside after dinner for fireworks.

Mystics, Geopolitics

Tour the old synagogues and picturesque alleyways of the mystical city of Tzfat and discover the origins of our Friday night service where Lecha Dodi was written -  Kibbutz Neot Mordechai to shop at the Teva Naot Shoe Factory Outlet.  Tour to the Golan Heights for a special perspective on Israel’s complex geopolitics as we visit former Syrian bunkers overlooking Israel and then look out from the peak of strategic Mt. Bental. On the way back to Tiberias, a special surprise stop at De Karina Chocolate Factory for some tasty treats.  Sunset cruise on the Sea of Galilee followed by dinner at Decks lakeside restaurant.



Friday, 01 June

Off to Afula where we will visit the Haemek Medical Center, serving the diverse population of Northeastern Israel and distribute the toys we brought with us.  A short drive to Kibbutz Sde Eliyahu for a private tour of this unique kibbutz.  Tours are bio-organic oriented, showing how everyday living is merged with nature as a way of life.  Combining the Jewish Orthodox life with an organic economy in a vibrant, versatile and cooperative community is something worth seeing and experiencing.  Lunch at Cafe B’Sadeh on the kibbutz Continue via the Jordan Valley to Jerusalem. Ascend to the Holy City of Jerusalem, stopping on Mt Scopus for a breathtaking view of Jerusalem. Greet the Sabbath at the Western Wall. Shabbat Dinner at hotel. Overnight: David Citadel Hotel, Jerusalem

And on the Seventh Day… in Jerusalem

Tour of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism’s  Fuchsberg Center - Mazal tov to Gail Silverman who had the Bat Cohen Aliyah at Beit Knesset Moreshet Yisrael Shul today. A walking tour to the historic Montefiore Windmill to discover Yemin Moshe, the first neighborhood built outside the walls of the Old City. Watch the Night Spectacular – Sound and Light Show amidst the archaeological remains in the Citadel’s courtyard at the Tower of David


Sunday, 03 June

We explored the City of David at 15:50 hr. using the Bible and archaeology to make Jerusalem’s stones tell the story of the city’s ancient past. The Hezekiah’s Tunnel – A still flowing ancient water system that saved the city of Jerusalem 2,700 years ago (dry option available).  The Davidson Archaeological Gardens (Southern wall excavations) and visit the Kotel/ Western Wall to connect with an ancient Jewish legacy.  Continue to the entrance of the Western Wall (Rabbinical Tunnel)  following the route of an ancient Hasmonean/Herodian street that ran parallel to the Wall. Through the narrow, winding streets of the Old City, to the reconstructed Jewish Quarter Lunch on own in Jewish Quarter.  Tour of Jewish Quarter including the Herodian Mansions, Cardo, Broad Wall and Rooftops followed by free time to shop and explore on own.  Wonderful Dinner at Piccolino in Kikar Hamusica (Music Square) where we presented a donation to Joan Kedem to the Lone Soldier program

Masada and the Dead Sea: Freedom Fighters or Fanatics?

We set out early across the Judean Desert and ascend Masada by cable car to tour the ruins of Herod’s palace and the last outpost of Jewish independence. Discussion: Which Jewish Legacy – Masada or Yavne? Swim in the Dead Sea, the lowest place on earth, and enjoy lunch& swim at the Crowne Plaza hotel Dead Sea. The resort also has a fresh water pool and spa facilities.  Massage and spa treatments available by prior reservation at own expense.  Visit the site of ancient Qumran, an archaeological site dating back  to the Iron Age. Nearby are the caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found in the winter of 1946-47.   


Tuesday, 15 June 

Tour of Yad Vashem Israel’s national Holocaust memorial and museum, including the Holocaust History Museum, Children‛s Memorial and Valley of the Lost Communities. Discover the story of Zionism’s founding father Theodore Herzl at the multimedia Herzl Museum., followed by a meaningful visit to the Mt. Herzl Cemetery to discover chapters in the history of Israel at the graves of Yitzhak Rabin, Golda Meir, Theordore Herzl and Hannah Senesch. Continue to the Jerusalem Monument to the 9/11 Victims.  The monument was designed by award-winning Israeli artist Eliezer Weishoff and commissioned by the JNF. The memorial depicts the World Trade Center and Pentagon through sculpture and landscape architecture.   Afterwards a special visit to an Army Base in the Jerusalem area with Joan Kedem, coordinator of the IDF Lone & Needy Soldier’s Project of Moreshet Yisrael. 


Wednesday, 06 June

Morning visit to Yad Lekashish. (Lifeline for the Aged), see the workshops and meet the elderly artisans. Shop in the gift shop (all proceeds support the programs of this organization).  Geopolitical tour of Jerusalem – Opportunity to examine critical issues impacting on the city first hand beyond what you read in the newspapers. We Visited  Meir Panim location to see how our monetary gifts are utilized. Then off to  Machane Yehuda  Market  food & tasting tour.  This is a tour about food, culture & identity in Jerusalem’s Machaneh Yehudah Market & the neighborhood of Nahlaot.  Farewell Dinner at Eucalyptus Restaurant at
