Explaining the "sense" of Scripture.

"Then he opened their minds
to understand the Scriptures,"

- Luke 24:45 [ESV]

Sekel is a hebrew word meaning:
intelligence, discretion, knowledge,  sense, & understanding, & wisdom and is found in the Old Testament passage Nehemiah 8:8:

"They read from the book, from the Law of God, clearly, and
they gave the sense{SEKEL}, so that the people understood the reading."

"They read from the Book of the Law of God and clearly explained
what was being read, helping the people understand each passage."

My life's calling, vision, passion & purpose is to "Give the sense" and help people understand the meaning of God's word.  In doing so, my goal is to fulfill the Great Commission to "make DISCIPLES of all nations."  (Emphasis on making "disciples"(Matthew 28:19) not mere CONVERTS.)
Disciple-making involves evangelism to be sure.  But it also involves
"...teaching them to observe all that I commanded you..."
My vision for ministry is to do exactly that by teaching believers to love the Bible, understand its teachings and follow the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to Whom the Scriptures point.  My prayer is that you will be edified (built up) in your faith by the material that I present on this site.

2 Cor. 12:9

The difference in making DISCIPLES rather than CONVERTS is amply explained below by Dr. John Piper, pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota:

My biggest fear regarding so much of what is called "worship"
today is the lack of understanding as to what worship is.
Here R. C. Sproul articulates the problem masterfully:

"Have Bible, will travel."
My life verse = 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 [NASB]:
"And He has said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness." Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ's sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong."
