Research

Our group’s research focuses on fabrications of flexible electronics/optoelectronics using inorganic nano/microstructures on 2-dimensional materials. High device performance has been expected using a single crystalline inorganic compound semiconductors because of its high radiative recombination rate and mobility, as well as its excellent thermal and mechanical characteristics. Nevertheless, the high growth temperatures of single-crystalline inorganic semiconductors make it difficult to use a conventional plastic substrate with a low melting temperature. In addition, a continuous, rigid inorganic film has little tolerance for mechanical deformation. These obstacles can be overcome basically using inorganic nanostructures grown on graphene films as a flexible substrate, which exhibit high temperature compatibility and good mechanical flexibility. Moreover, in order to add logical functions on the substrate, not only the graphene, but also h-BN or topological insulators (TIs) have been investigated. The flexible inorganic electronics/optoelectronics can be applied on next-generation wearable computing devices and bio-medical devices due to their excellent device performances and bio-compatibility.
