Passionate about hats & their history, Claire also delivers millinery talks, demonstrations and workshops.


A professional Life Model for over 15 years, Claire works with artists, tutors and venues across Yorkshire.


Claire has worked as Costume Hire Assistant for York Theatre Royal's Wardobe dept since 2016



Trained in BTEC HNC Millinery at Leeds College of Art & Design, Claire achieved a distinction in 2009 and went on to launch bespoke millinery business "Quaintrelle Millinery by Claire Spooner" in 2010, designing and making hats for occasion-wear. In 2016 Claire moved into Theatrical Millinery and now offers her services on a freelance basis. Claire also makes for prestigious couture milliner Justine Bradley-Hill.

Claire holds a First Class hons degree in Fine Art and alongside her freelance millinery work, has been employed at York Theatre Royal Costume Hire since 2016. During "lockdown" Claire had a peer -reviewed article published in the Jornal of Dress History about the costume collection at York Theatre Royal. Claire is also a professional Life Model.
