Through her label "Quaintrelle", Claire offers a bespoke millinery service to clients, designing elegant and distinctive ladies headwear ideal for special occasions. Each piece is made by Claire in her Yorkshire studio using couture millinery techniques.

Claire offers a design and/or making service for theatre/tv/film, with particular emphasis on ladies period designs. Recent productions include York Theatre Royal Panto 2016 & 2017 and "When We Are Married" & "Everything is Possible", also YTR productions.

Passionate about hats & their history, Claire also delivers millinery talks, demonstrations & workshops.

“Quaintrelle: Millinery by Claire Spooner” launched in April 2010

Claire’s studio is located on the estate of the beautiful Newby Hall, North Yorkshire - after seven happy years located at the King Street Workshops in Pateley Bridge.

Trained in BTEC HNC Millinery at Leeds College of Art & Design, Claire achieved a distinction in 2009

Claire holds a First Class hons degree in Fine Art and alongside her freelance millinery business enjoys work at York Theatre Royal Costume Hire, professional Life Modelling and Extras work in period productions.
