A research paper follows a structure
- Scientific research writing does follow a basic structure.
- It must have a title that brings out what the study is about.
- This is followed by an abstract which summarizes the study.
- The Abstract should help a reader decide whether s/he wants to read the paper.
- Then comes the main body of the paper, which follows the IMRAD structure.
- The acronym IMRAD stands for Introduction, Methods, Results and Discussion.
- At the end of the paper, provide references to other papers you have studied on this topic and derived information from, to write your own paper. This will also be a reference for readers who would like to explore more on the topic.
