The Phoenixville Greenway

The Phoenixville Greenway is an ambitious plan to create a ten (10) miles of linear park along the Schuylkill River and French Creek in Phoenixville. This effort is part of the larger river preservation project spearheaded by the Schuylkill River Greenway Association (SRGA) to restore and preserve the river as a sustainable watershed. The Schuylkill River Trail (SRT) Schuylkill River Trail (SRT) is the spline of the Phoenixville Greenway, providing the connection to a regional trail system connecting Pottsville to Philadelphia and the greater trail system, The Circuit.

The western end of the Greenway would connect Phoenixville south to the  Chester Valley Trail (See Map Trail Map) by putting the old Devault Rail Line back to work as a trail.  The Devault Line would cover about 6 miles down to the new Turnpike Slip Ramp on Rt 29, and then connect to the Patriot's Path which is currently in the works.  This project is being led by Charlestown Township, but Phoenixville will be the most used section.  see the Devault Trail Project Handout pages attached to this page below, CircuitTrails.org, or the Devault Feasibility Study for more.
