If you live near, work near, or just are in the area visiting, please stay safe and vigilant. If you see something, say something! Please contact the Norfolk Southern™ Railway Police at (800) 453-2530 to report suspicious activity and other security issues.

 

The Norfolk Southern™ Protect the Line program offers the following information to railfans:

1. Do not take photographs of military trains and equipment.

2. Only take photographs or view trains from public locations.

3. When taking photographs from public railroad crossings, stay at least 15 feet away from the nearest rail. This rule applies for staged "photo run-bys" as well.

4. Cooperate fully with railroad police or other law enforcement officers when contacted.

5. If reporting an issue at a crossing, please take note of the DOT crossing number located on the crossbucks.

6. If suspicious activities are noted, report it to railroad or local law enforcement officers. DO NOT TAKE ANY FURTHER ACTION!


The Norfolk Southern™ Police request to be contacted in the following situations:  (1) Sparks, day or night; (2) Trailers that lean severely; (3) Smoke; (4) Loose banding material; (5) Open trailer doors; (6) Trespassers; (7) Children near the rail.


Please remember that trespassing is a criminal offense and that you may be arrested and prosecuted if trespassing on railroad property.
