“Living a Life of Service”
Baccalaureate Speech Competition The Baccalaureate Committee would like to invite all seniors who are interested in speaking at the Baccalaureate to submit a speech to the Committee to be considered as one of the two speakers. The theme this year is: “Living a Life of Service” Human nature tends to make us think of ourselves, our feelings, and what we want, before we think of others’ needs. Explain the benefits of going against human nature by helping other people and Living a Life of Service to others rather than just thinking of yourself. Give specific examples of ways you have put others first in your life so far, or examples of others who have done this (either whom you know personally or you have heard about in the news.) Also give specific ways you plan on putting others first in the years ahead. Describe the benefits to yourself, to others, to the community and/or the world when a person lives a live of service to others. Your speech should be approximately 3-7 minutes.
The deadline to submit your speech is Thursday, APRIL 26. No late submissions can be accepted. Once you have completed your essay, please turn it in to your English teacher. Only your student ID number should be on your paper, not your name. You will be notified if your essay has been selected by the third week of May. If you do not have an English class this year: You can still submit your speech, with only your ID number on it, by turning it in to the “PTO” mailbox at the front desk by the deadline, Thursday, April 26. We look forward to reading your speeches! Good luck!!!
Sincerely, The Baccalaureate Committee
