International Honor Society for the Two Year College

Relay for Life

Each year Tau Nu gathers as a team and generates a theme for the Relay for Life. We raise funds for the American Cancer Society through this event that culminates in a night of fellowship, fun and hope for the future.

In the few years that Tau Nu has been participating, we have raised over $10,000 dollars for cancer research.

As part of Phi Theta Kappa's partnership with Keep America Beautiful and the International Service Program "Operation Green," four times a year we commit to serving the community by cleaning Beauregard Street between Rt. 7 and Seminary Road (where our campus is located) clean and pleasing to our students and neighbors. During this event, we also hope to promote better habits in our community by discouraging littering.

Surely the best work-out and community service combination you will ever find. Do something good, give the green back to our community.

Hearts and Hammers

The Hearts and Hammers project is a construction project done in conjunction with the NVCC Alexandria Construction Group.

During this event, our chapter members volunteer to do light construction and yard work for a community member. This member is selected based on many criteria by RPJ Housing Development Corporation.
They are usually elders in the community who live alone and cannot take care of their houses. Our chapter members would come to this designated house for a whole day and we will clean up the yard and perform maintenance work.
Not only do we have a chance to help a community member but also work out and get fit in a friendly environment.
This event is full of fun and leaves a lasting impression in each participant.
