About Tau Nu

International Honor Society for the Two Year College
Tau Nu Chapter

Our chapter of Phi Theta Kappa is located at the Northern Virginia Community College, Alexandria Campus.  We are the oldest chapter in the state of Virginia being chartered February 19, 1966.

Our chapter enjoys a rich and extremely diverse campus population both in age and the nationality. With a strategic location (half an hour from Washington, DC), our chapter is positioned as one of the most dynamic and active chapters in the Virginia Region and nationally.

What Makes Tau Nu Different?

Tau Nu isn't just the most active student group on our campus, our members are among the most successful nationwide.

In recent history we have had members win the coveted Jack Kent Cook scholarship, become All-State Academic Champions and participate in legislative activies in Richmond.   For the last three years, the Tau Nu chapter has won top honors at the annual Relay for Life event.

Being part of our chapter means you are part of the most intellectual and community-awared group of students on campus. You are ensured to enjoy the companion of students who care about not only their own future, but also the future of our community.

Our chapter pioneers in volunteering in the community. We hold Honor Seminars each Fall semester on various topics that enrich our members intellectually. Most of all, our chapter has the resources to make YOUR dreams comes true.
