Walk/Bike to School Day

Committee Overview
October 4, 2017 is International Walk/Bike to School Day!

Walking and bicycling to school enables children to incorporate the regular physical activity they need each day while also forming healthy habits that can last a lifetime. Regular physical activity helps children build strong bones, muscles and joints, and it decreases the risk of obesity. In contrast, insufficient physical activity can contribute to chronic diseases, such as diabetes, heart disease, cancer and stroke. Also, when families decide to lace up their sneakers or strap on their bike helmets to get to school instead of riding in a car, they help reduce the amount of air pollutants emitted by automobiles.
For kids who walk/bike/take public transportation (bus) to school on Wednesday October 4th, please meet in the grassy area on the east side of the school (by the crosswalk on Wright St.) before soft start begins for refreshments and to enter your name in a raffle for a Dairy Queen GIFT CARD!!  Be sure to get there early so you can get to your classroom by 8:50!

Volunteer Support Needed

We need volunteers to help outside at school from 8:20 to 9:00 AM on Wednesday, October 4th, 2017. Volunteers will hand out stickers, raffle tickets, and orange juice/water. Clean-up help is also appreciated.

This is a quick and easy way to volunteer for our school/PTA. It's also a great way to encourage our children to stay active.

A sign up link will be added here when the event date gets nearer.
