We Made It! Last Week of the 2017-2018 School Year!

Post date: May 22, 2018 11:52:48 AM

We made it! Can you believe it’s the last week of school? We would like to wish everyone a wonderful summer & we will see you back next year!

The newly elected 2018-2019 PTA Executive Officers are:

President: Melissa Young

Vice President: Katie Slegar

Treasurer: Kelly Via

Secretary: Lisa Ferrell

Welcome back to our returning members & welcome to our new member, Kelly Via! We are also excited to have a few returning committee chairs –

Events: Tammie Allison

Publicity: Angela Raettig

Box Tops: Tabatha Henshaw

We are looking for a few more people! If you think you might be interested in helping in one of the following capacities, please let me know. Each PTA position has a limit of 2 terms or 2 years, so we need to bring some new faces in each year to keep the PTA up & running.

Hospitality Chair: Showing appreciation is our Hospitality Chair’s main role – for the staff, teachers, and anyone else that we feel we need to show we appreciate them! This role has a lot of flexibility. Within the budget, you can figure out what you would like to do to show appreciation and organize the details.

Membership Coordinator: This person helps people sign up for membership. It is busiest at the beginning of the year. We ask them to oversee the PTA table at events early in the year such as Back to School Night, Fall Festival, Grandparents Day, and help members to sign up for the year. Once the year is well underway, the person attends the PTA meetings as a Board Member and usually helps the other committees, but doesn’t have much specific responsibility.

Fundraising Chair: Don’t worry! We aren’t asking you to make cold calls or go door to door (unless you want to!). This person selects a few fundraising options for the Board to review and then implements the selected option. Organization skills are key. Much like the Membership role, this is busy at the beginning of the year and once the main fundraiser is over, the position responsibilities taper off quite a bit.

Regardless of the role you have, we all help each other out, have some fun doing it, and help bring some additional activities (& funds) to M-NES. If you’ve ever considered getting involved, please reach out. We’d love to work with your schedule to make it work. Even if you only have a couple hours to spare all year, we have something we could use your help with – just let us know!

· May 21 – Field Day

· May 22 – K-2 End of the Year Ceremonies

· May 23 – 3-5 End of the Year Ceremonies

· May 25 – Last Day of School, 11am dismissal

Thank you and have a wonderful summer!

Melissa Young
