Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  How did PSYCH-K® originate?

A:  PSYCH-K® was originated in 1988 by Robert M. Williams, M.A.  It was a response to the frustration that came with the realization that typical counseling techniques, which rely almost exclusively on "insight" and "motivation," seldom create real and lasting changes.

Rob has spent 17 years developing and improving PSYCH-K®.  His background in business and psychotherapy creates a results oriented approach to personal change. PSYCH-K® was inspired by a variety of processes, some contemporary and some ancient. It deals with the part of the mind called the subconscious, which is capable of creating dramatic and lasting changes quickly and easily.

Q: How does PSYCH-K® work?

A:  PSYCH-K® is a unique process evolving from years of split-brain research and hundreds of sessions with individuals and groups.  It creates a receptive state of mind that dramatically reduces resistance to changing at the subconscious level.

The subconscious mind can be accessed in a way similar to a personal computer. PSYCH-K® works like a "mental keyboard" - a user-friendly method of communicating with the subconscious mind that is simple, direct and verifiable.

Q: How Does PSYCH-K® Differ From Other Self-Help Techniques?

A:  PSYCH-K® differs from other modalities in a variety of ways. While all modalities have value, there are important differences that make a difference. These differences are addressed in Chapter 7 of "PSYCH-K®…The Missing Peace In Your Life."

The main differences are:

1.   PSYCH-K® depends on the inner wisdom of the individual seeking change – which differs from a healer doing something to you, or therapist suggesting what should be done.

2.   PSYCH-K® has permission protocols that asks both the Higher-Self and the subconscious mind.  It is important that we don’t “kill the messenger” and understand the life-lesson of why we have the problem.  PSYCH-K® also offers a streamlined way to learn the life-lesson of a problem so we can quickly move beyond it.

3.   PSYCH-K® is a blending of your conscious, subconscious and superconscious mind.  This is the goal of PSYCH-K® to assist the individual in becoming a unified consciousness.

4.   Via muscle testing, PSYCH-K® enables the subconscious mind to choose the change process it prefers.  Because the subconscious mind makes the necessary belief and perceptual changes, it only makes sense to let it choose the right “tool” for the job.

5.   PSYCH-K® is as simple as possible, but not simpler, because it uses the subconscious mind as its guide.

6.   PSYCH-K® uses a very specific protocol for muscle testing that access the feeling and physical sensations.

7.   PSYCH-K® gives you clarity of intention as to which part of the mind you are communicating with; the conscious, subconscious or superconscious.

8.   PSYCH-K® is simply a vehicle for change.  It doesn’t choose what you should believe, rather it helps you believe what you choose.

9.   PSYCH-K® balances are easy to do, and provide quick “updates” to your belief system.

Q:  What is a PSYCH-K® balance?

A:  A PSYCH-K® balance is a technique designed to create balanced communication with both hemispheres of the brain. This "whole-brain" state is ideal for reprogramming the subconscious mind with new positive beliefs that support your goals rather than sabotage them!

Q:  Why haven't I heard of PSYCH-K® before?

A:  For the first 10 years after its inception, Rob Williams used PSYCH-K® exclusively in his private psychotherapy practice.  Prior to 1997, Rob was the only person teaching the technique.  Now there's a growing number personally selected  Certified Instructors trained exclusively by Rob Williams.  In short, you'll be hearing a lot more about PSYCH-K® in the future!

Q:  How can PSYCH-K® help Me?

A: Your subconscious beliefs establish the limits of what you can achieve.  If your life feels like a car being driven with one foot on the accelerator and one foot on the brake, chances are you have a conflict between your conscious goals and your subconscious beliefs.  This kind of conflict shows up in relationships, job performance, self-esteem, athletics, weight loss, prosperity, even your physical health.  If you are facing challenges in any of these areas, working with an experienced  PSYCH-K®  facilitator can make a big difference.

Q:  Can PSYCH-K® help me at work?

A:  Yes! You can reduce stress, improve sales performance, enhance your leadership ability, increase job satisfaction and more.  Rob is also the originator of PER-K® (Performance Kinesiology®), designed for the business environment.
