The SST Group

The Solid-State Theory Group at the Physics Department of the University of Milan is led by Giovanni Onida and Nicola Manini. The group is active in multiple research subjects in Condensed Matter theory, exploiting theoretical/computational methods to study mainly:

1. Structural properties and dynamical/spectroscopic response of solid-state and molecular materials, surfaces, and nanoclusters, by first-principles approaches;

2. Sliding friction in several contexts, mainly by means of classical molecular-dynamics simulations and of many-body theory.
