PSHOA @ 25: in Retrospect

The Silver Anniversary Celebration and Annual Convention on April 8, 2005 at the Harana Ballroom of Hyatt Regency Manila marked a significant milestone in the history of the Private School Health Officers’ Association (PSHOA), Inc. and was undeniably a great day for School Health development in private schools throughout the country in general.

The Organizing Committee headed by the very energetic President, Dr. Ma. Consuelo Z. Garcia, and designated Chairperson, the equally untiring Executive Vice-President, Ms. Dolores S. Sepacio, literary moved heaven and earth in preparing for this rare event. All the best endeavors were exerted to ensure that the commemoration becomes a smashing hit to all the participants and guests.

And thanks mainly to the unwavering support of United Laboratories (Unilab) and its affiliate, RiteMED Philippines, Inc., the entire agenda lived up to the spirit of the anniversary theme,

“PSHOA @ 25, Solidifying Its Lasting Vision to Enrich its Ranks!”

Incidentally, the theme, which accurately fits the acronym S-I-L-V-E-R, was conceived as usual by the association’s resident think tank and Past President, Dr. Wesley C. Vinluan, who likewise painstakingly conceptualized and edited almost single-handedly the sleek Silver Anniversary and Annual Convention Souvenir Program.

Attendance was overwhelming right at the start of the Opening Ceremonies which featured an inspiring and optimistic Keynote Address by the main guest, Executive Director Ma. Teresa M. Soriano of the

Institute of Labor Studies, Department of Labor and Employment.

The scientific sessions with topics ranging from Pediatric Dentistry, Gastrointestinal and Respiratory Infections to Workplace Accidents, Medical Economics as well as Health Employees’ Rights and Benefits were truly enlightening and challenging to the utmost credit of the guest speakers who mesmerized the delegates with their wit and charm.

The glamour did not end with the enjoyable lectures, however, since the celebration continued with the fabulous Fellowship Night that gathered the past and the present in a grand reunion and thanksgiving party at the majestic Hyatt Penthouse.

And to cap the day, exciting raffle prizes were awarded to lucky delegates.

Indeed, it was truly a special and prestigious occasion!

The sweat and hardships along the way were all worth the officers’ time and effort.

For sure, the members went home beaming with pride for being not just mere witnesses

but, rather, vital accomplices to a grand affair to remember.
