Applicants must have an academic C average at the time of application.

  • Award Ceremony Aug. 3, 10am-12pm
  • Flag Raising Aug. 8, 2019
  • Must be available to volunteer for The Miss Borinquen Program on Jul. 2019
  • Must be available for Parade activities Aug. 16-18, 2019
  • Parade March Aug.  17, 2019

Jr. Grand Marshal Leadership Program

 A leadership & scholarship 

program of the Puerto Rican and Hispanic Day Parade of WNY, Assoc. Inc.  

Jr. Grand Marshal Leadership Development Scholarship Program is Now Accepting Applicants Jr. Grand Marshal Leadership Development Program provides fundamental support to participants in their preparation for college or Vocational entrance. The program provides opportunities for participants to succeed in their precollege/ prevocational performance and ultimately in their higher education pursuits. Jr. Grand Marshal Leadership Development Program strives to build well-rounded Hispanic gentleman, community leaders and scholars.

Requirements to Participate:

* Submit a complete application
* Must be of Hispanic descent
* Junior or Senior in High School
* Have an average of C plus at time of application
* Parent / Guardian must attend program orientation
* Must provide a recommendation from School Principal, teacher or           Guidance counselor
* Copy of Student transcripts must be provided
* Complete short Questions on application weekend
* Must be available for Scholarship Interviews (as noted above)           
* Must fulfill all requirements of program and participate in all Parade     activities
* Must be available to volunteer for The Miss Borinquen Program on         Jul 27th and 28th, 2018
Must be available to attend Mentoring Program & Award Ceremony       on August 4th, 2018 9AM-12PM
* Must be available to attend The Puerto Rican & Hispanic Day Parade     Flag Raising Ceremony August 9 
* Must be available to march in the 2018 The Hispanic & Puerto Rican       Day Parade on August 18    
* Must be available for The Puerto Rican & Hispanic Day Parade set           up/activities on Aug.17 – Aug. 19  
* Must provide proof of registration to a College or Training program         to be awarded scholarship

2018 Jr. Grand Marshal 
Gabriel Morrisroe 
Is an upcoming freshman at the University at Buffalo this coming Fall. Gabriel graduated from City Honors High School. He is proud to be Puerto Rican and Dominican. Gabriel is planning to studying biotechnology at the University of Buffalo and hopes to pursue a profession in working with prosthetics in the future. Gabriel will be the recipient of $1,000 Scholarship.

Dialo Rivera Stevens
has received various scholarships and including a full scholarship to attend Medaille College in the Fall where he plans to major in Criminal Justice. Dialo is also very active in his community and has volunteered at the Friends of Night. Dialo is also an athlete student and was one of the top players on his team awarded the MVP award in the all-star basketball game for Buffalo.Dialo will be the recipient of $1,000 Scholarship.
