WHAT IS A COMENIUS SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT PROJECT?
    • School development projects focus on the needs and problems that all participating schools have in common. The stress is thus on exchanging teachers and head staff's experience and ideas and, consequently, on developing efficient methods of dealing with a particular issue

WHY DID WE DECIDE TO WORK ON THIS PROJECT?

Since we are all aware of the burning issue of violence at school and since we believe that with the experience of so many different schools and so many different cultures we can make a difference, we decided to make a project on this topic. The title of our project is thus SAVANT: Schools Against Violence – Act, Not Tolerate . It is going to be a 3-year project, starting with the academic year 2006/2007.

AIMS / OBJECTIVES OF OUR PROJECT:

    • To raise awareness of the burning issue of violence in schools among teachers, pupils, pupils’ parents and local authorities.

    • To learn about the different models of               a) preventing violent behaviour
      b) dealing with it successfully

      • To provide support, help and guidance for teachers and pupils who have been victims of violence in school.

      • To learn how to communicate non-violently.
      • To offer pupils different sports (and possibly other) activities where they can release their accumulated (negative) energy during the school year as well as during school holidays.
