Project Outreach: a free respite program for families in the Norman area
Project Outreach is a monthly respite care program that provides structured recreational activities such as group games, arts and crafts, outdoor play, movies, and snacks. We began as an outgrowth of the Norman Day School for Handicapped Children and currently serve children in Norman, OK and the surrounding area. The program is provided free of charge, but donations are greatly appreciated.
Respite care is the temporary short-term relief for families and caregivers who need a break from the responsibilities of caring for a family member or loved one with a disability or special health care need. Project Outreach provides respite care for children with special needs (to age 21) and their siblings (to age 12).
Project Outreach is administered by a Board of Directors and an Advisory Panel that is available for consultation. We have a small staff and are primarily supported by our wonderful volunteers.
