Icarus straightens up to fly right

Wallops Island Trip 2

Bend Test

MOI Testing

Spin Testing

Vibration Testing

From January 2 through the 9 the Icarus team was in Wallops Island, Virginia, testing Icarus.  The testing was similar to the tests performed earlier.  However, in this round of testing the vehicle was in its flight-ready state, meaning these tests were actually flight qualification tests.  Overall, the results were positive.  For more information, see the pages at left.

The Icarus team is also highly appreciative of the staff of Wallops Flight Facility for all their efforts.  They have provided valuable insight into the way rockets should be built and the way they are tested.  Tours of the machine shop and launch rails as well as observation of the air bearing tests were fascinating experiences.

Pictures of the tours can be found on the Pictures page.  Pictures of the tests are on the respective test pages.
