Luovi Vocational Institute

Ammattiopisto Luovi, Luovi Vocational Institute (Luovi ) provides upper secondary and adult education and training and liberal adult education nationwide. Luovi is the largest vocational special education institution in Finland and it is spread across 27 sites. The number of staff is 800. There are 1460 students with special needs in VET. Reasons may include mental health and social problems, minor developmental delays, reading and writing difficulties and developmental disorders. The students of Luovi need individual support and study guidance. 
 
Luovi provides VET in seven fields of study: Cultural sector, Natural sciences, Natural resources and the environment, Tourism, catering and domestic services, Technology, communication and transport and Social sciences, business and administration. In addition Luovi provides preparatory training. 
 
The guidelines for European cooperation activities are defined in the International strategy of Luovi. The objective of international activities is to increase student and staff skills and capabilities. Practical measures include support for student and staff exchanges, development of education and training, provision of language and cultural training and participation in international projects as well as creating opportunities to advance reciprocal mobility. Luovi has a lot of experience in European projects; Leonardo da Vinci, Comenius, Youth and Grundtvig.
