Project Definition

Introduction

By joining the project students will be given an oportunity to acquire additional professional confidence and personal selfrespect through new experience and to learn to be more independent and get around in new situations. The aim of the project, besides the beforementioned improvement of students’ personal development, is to give them an oportunity to acquire new vocational skills and knowledge, which can improve their work and help them to compete equally in the work market. 

From September 2009 to the time of the actual mobility, the chosen as well as other interested students, would be prepared for the visit by improving their language and vocational skills, as well as learning the basic information and cultural specifics of Finland. We also plan to help them make contact with their peers/hosts in Finland using e-mail and web cameras, allowing students to learn new computer skills and to make social contacts before the actual mobility takes place. 

The mobility would take place for in Louvu Vocational Institute, Oulu, Finland, between February and April 2010, and would last for two weeks.

Specific tasks

Center "Slava Raškaj" in the first phase will inform students, do a choice for mobility and include selected students in the preparatory workshop, which will implement a number of professional associates (eg, vocational teacher, language teacher, psychologist, etc.). The Center will, in collaboration with its partners, participate in the organization of transport and accommodation for students during mobility. For the duration of the mobility of students will be accompanied by the educational and communication needs to be two people, an expert in the field of vocational and professional associate of the school. Also, after the mobility center will make a report and conduct evaluation and dissemination of results. The holder of this activity will be the expert team of the school.
 
Luovi will act as a hosting partner in the project. Luovi will appoint a contact person to take care of the arrangements of the exchanges. Luovi will assist in organising the programme for the exchange, take part in the evaluation and monitoring of the project results. It will also assist in practical arrangements concerning accommodation, local transport and free time activities.


The objectives of the Leonardo da Vinci programme that this Mobility project will address

  • improve the quality and to increase the volume of mobility throughout Europe of people involved in initial vocational education and training and in continuing training, so as to increase placements in enterprises to at least 80 000 per year by the end of the Lifelong Learning Programme
  • improve the quality and to increase the volume of cooperation between institutions or organisations providing learning opportunities, enterprises, social partners and other relevant bodies throughout Europe
  • acilitate the development of innovative practices in the field of vocational education and training other than at tertiary level, and their transfer, including from one participating country to others
  • improve the transparency and recognition of qualifications and competences, including those acquired through non-formal and informal  learning
  • to encourage the learning of modern foreign languages  
  • to support the development of innovative ICT-based content, services, pedagogies and practice for lifelong learning

Group of participants

Participants in the mobility are final year secondary vocational school students that train the Center for the cook and pastry chef. Exceptionally, in the case of express motivation and extraordinary success in the project may include students of lower grades. Students involved in the project are students with hearing, specific learning difficulties or reduced intellectual capacity.
