Project Educate In Africa (PEIA) is an advocacy group for education and literacy in Africa. It was started in May 2007 with a book drive to support Pagus Africa, a U. S based non-profit that supports education in Africa. This book drive which was organized on the Bryn Mawr College campus received such overwhelming support that it became possible to donate to books not only to Pagus Africa but also to the University of Nairobi, Kenya.

Presently, what started was started as a one-box drive has grown into a dynamic organization that supports educational initiatives in Africa. In its one year of existence, PEIA Bryn Mawr alone has collected and donated over three thousand books among 37 African countries. As well, it has raised well over two thousand dollars to support various educational and literacy focused organizations in Africa.

PEIA operates with a simple model that can be replicated on any institutional campus. Persons interested in starting a PEIA chapter on their campus should contact us directly.
