Professor Dongsoo Han received the BS and MS degrees in Computer Science from Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea in 1989 and 1991, and the Ph.D. degree in Information
Science from Kyoto University, Kyoto, Japan in 1996. From 1996 to 1997, he worked at
Hyundai Information Technology. He is currently a professor with the Department of Computer Science, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (http://cs.kaist.ac.kr), Taejon, Korea. Prof. Han is leading Intelligent Service Integration Laboratory (http://isilab.kaist.ac.kr). His main research topics are indoor positioning, pervasive computing, and location-based
mobile applications. From 2011 to 2015, he served as director of Indoor Positioning Research Center (IPRC), which he founded at KAIST with the support from Korea International Trading Association (KITA) in 2011. Starting from 2015, he is serving for Korea Institute of Intelligent Transport Systems (KITS) as vice president. He is an executive editor of ICT Express, for which he edited a special issue on positioning techniques and applications in 2016. He filed more than 30 international and domestic patents on indoor positioning techniques. The filed patents have become the basis of Dr. Han’s technology transfer activities performed six times for the last 5 years. He authored a book, “patent, infinite challenge (in Korean)” in 2013. Prof. Han founded an IT venture company, VISoft, in 2006.
