Connecting to TAU Databases

You can fool your home computer into thinking that you are on campus, and thereby access Tel Aviv University databases from home, especially JSTOR.

If you use Internet Explorer, do the following:
  • Go into Internet Explorer, Internet Options
  • Go into Local Area Network (LAN) settings
  • Check 'Use automatic configuration script'
  • For the address, write in
  • Click OK.  (This replaces the previous configuration, which just clicked 'Automatically detect settings')
When you click on a link for JSTOR, for example, you will be asked to provide your TAU username and password....and then you're in.

If you use Google Chrome, do the following:

If you use Firefox, do the following:
  • Click on the Firefox icon at the top left corner of the screen
  • Click on 'Options'
  • On the far right of the tab, click 'Advanced'
  • Click 'Network'
  • Where it says 'Configure how Firefox connects to the Internet' click on 'Settings'
  • Choose 'Automatic proxy configuration URL'
  • Insert
