...that is to say, Katharina von Bora (1499-1552), as shown in another portrait by Lucas Cranach the Elder, about 1526:

Luther spoke highly of her: ' I would not change my Katie for France and Venice because God has given her to me and other women have much worse faults, and she is true to me and a good mother to my children.'  Probably sounds more romantic in German.

Judi Dench played Katharina von Bora in the 1974 film version of John Osborne's play about Luther.  When the original play opened in London in 1961, Albert Finney was Luther.  Stacy Keach played Luther in the movie:
