About me

My star sign is Pisces and fittingly I am a natural dreamer :).

I am from a village named Racherla Boppapur in Sircilla district of Telangana, India. I grew up in a village named Kisannagar in Nizamabad District where I went to school (St. E. A. S. High School) and lived with my maternal grand parents. I should label myself as a lazy student somehow managing reasonably good marks to be among the top 3 students of the class. I had a typical Indian cricket mad childhood with great friends around. Luckily for me, my school allowed me to grow in a more natural way and develop my own understanding of science and life.

After school, I went to Hyderabad, where I studied Intermediate at Sri Chaitanya Junior college, Kukatpally. I studied for my Bachelor of Technology degree in Electronics and Communications engineering at PRRM Engineering college, Shabad.

Life changed dramatically after going to Denmark for higher education. I went to study Masters in Wireless engineering at the Technical University of Denmark and that was the beginning of the most interesting things to happen in my life. Then, I went to Germany to work on my master thesis at Freiberg University of Mining and Technology on use of remote sensing data in geology applications. I continued there, by starting my PhD under the supervision of Prof. Irmgard Niemeyer. I worked in the framework of GMOSS and LIMES projects on use of remote sensing data in treaty monitoring applications, and I wrote my dissertation on "Geographic object-based image analysis."

I worked with Prof. Paolo Gamba at the Remote sensing group in Department of Electronics at the University of Pavia, Italy as an "Experienced Researcher" within the framework of the Hyper-I-Net project with a Marie Curie Fellowship. I worked as a  project leader at the Signal Processing Lab., Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Unviersity of Iceland, Iceland with Prof. Jon Atli Benediktsson. From there, I continued to work as a researcher at the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology, UAE, where I was eventually appointed as an Assistant Professor. After the merger of Masdar Institute into Khalifa University, I got promoted as Associate Professor and am currently part of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Living in so many places and meeting so many people from so many countries will count as my best experiences.
