The development of effective work habits and routines are essential for both academic achievement and success in life after high school. At Plymouth Regional High School, math homework has several purposes: it gives students an opportunity to independently practice skills taught in class; provides quick feedback for students on their level of understanding; and encourages students to take intellectual risks by applying their knowledge to new situations and advanced problems. To foster the value and importance of homework, the following homework policy is followed:
Assignments must be submitted at the beginning of class on the date due to be eligible for up to 100% of assessed value. Typically, no credit is given for missing work and late work is generally not accepted. For longer term projects or assessments, consequences for late or missing work will be at the discretion of the individual teacher.
For assignments missing due to an absence from school, students will have one day (including weekend days) for each consecutive day absent to complete homework assigned during the absence.
