Mindfulness Practice

"Thoughts"

Mindfulness is the practice of paying attention without judgment to the moment-by-moment sensations of being alive. All mindfulness practice groups at Present Sense are secular and open to people of all faiths. Material for classes is drawn from many sources, including a variety of religious traditions as well as current research on the brain.

Intro to Mindfulness: Starting your own practice

    Days:  next class coming soon
    Time:  6:30 - 8:30 pm
    FacilitatorKatie Talbott, MA
    Cost: $90 for series

Need some support to start your own daily meditation practice?  For those who are new to meditation or who just want a refresher in the basics, this class will offer a simple structure and support for your daily practice.  This class is taught from a secular perspective, drawing from current research on the mind as well as different meditation traditions.  We will cover sitting meditation, walking meditation, mindful movement, and loving-kindness.  We will also talk about ways to deal with things that get in the way of your practice, and have time for questions and discussion.  Mindfulness meditation--as a friend of mine recently noted--is a kind of “inoculation against anxiety” and sitting in a group is a great way to deepen your awareness.  We welcome your presence!
