Message From the Principal

Welcome! I am honored to serve as the Principal of Prescott South Middle School and invite you to join us in making this year a happy, productive learning experience for your child. I'd like to welcome our new Prescott families and hope that you will feel a part of this school family as soon as you walk in our front doors. If I haven't had the chance to meet you, please stop by and introduce yourself!

Communication between the home and school is an important part of Prescott's success. We have several resources to assist in communication with parents. The PAWPRINT is our school newsletter and is emailed at the beginning of each week. Prescott also utilizes a phone call-out system to notify parents of pertinent information in a timely fashion. Communication with the classroom teacher is the best source for answers to your questions. The school website is full of important information as well.

Prescott parents and volunteers are an integral part of our school team. I hope that you will join the many parents who volunteer to assist in the classroom, library, counseling center and front office. We couldn't accomplish all that we do without wonderful volunteers! Prescott's PTO is very active in our school and vital to our school's success! I encourage parents to join our PTO.

At PSMS, we are committed to developing each child to their fullest potential. Meeting the academic and social needs of our students while promoting the development of character and community in each child is our priority. This year we will continue our Positive Behavior Intervention and Support program for our students.  We will focus on three foundational character areas of Respect, Responsibility, and Readiness.  Our staff has identified these three traits as essential to the success of our students.

In the realm of academics, we will continue to have a strong emphasis on literacy and critical thinking skills through our STEM initiative.   We will continue our implementation of the Common Core Standards in Math and begin the transition to Common Core Standards in English/Language Arts.  In doing so, we will prepare students well in the area of critical reading and writing so that more students will be prepared to take advanced placement classes in high school.

We are fortunate to have a talented group of educators that embrace children and learning. We simply LOVE what we do and we are blessed to serve wonderful students and families.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions, concerns, or suggestions. I welcome your input into our learning community and look forward to a great year.
