West Virginia State Penitentiary - Moundsville

posted Apr 26, 2013, 4:38 PM by Jeffrey Kaminski   [ updated Apr 26, 2013, 4:38 PM ]

On Friday, May 24, PREP will be investigating the West Virginia State Penitentiary (Moundsville).  Considered one of the top 10 most violent prisons in the country during its operation, nearly 1,000 deaths took place on these grounds.  This prison has been featured on numerous paranormal television programs and has laid claim to numerous unexplained phenomena.

This will be a massive undertaking for PREP in covering the expanse within the prison walls.  The violent history and claims of physical contact are another dimension to be wary of.

Claims that PREP will be investigating include shadow movement, staff being touched, disembodied voices, and objects moving on their own.

Landon House Investigation May 28!

The PREP crew will be heading to the historic Landon House, located in Urbana, MD, for a private investigation on Saturday, May 28.  The investigation will take place from 7pm-2:30am and will begin with a guided tour of the 12,000 square foot property (about the same size as Mount Vernon) as well as detail on the mansion's "hot spots" of paranormal activity.  We will then have the entire Landon House to investigate all to ourselves!  The fee for this event is $75.00, which benefits the Landon House renovations, location maintenance, and up-keep.  Fees may be turned in to Jeff or Wally by Friday, May 13.  Checks or paypal transfer will be accepted.  Jeff and Wally may be contacted with any questions or email info@prepcrewonline.org.

History of the Landon House: The historic Landon House in Urbana, Maryland has an incredible history.  Built in 1754 along the Rappahannock River in Virginia as a 12,000 square-foot silk mill, it was dismantled in 1840 and moved by barge up the river and overland to Georgetown.  Then it was moved up the C&O Canal to Point of Rocks afterwhich it was transported by oxcart to Urbana and rebuilt as the Shirley Female Academy.  Ten years later it became the Landon Military Academy and institute until 1860 when it was abandoned prior to the Civil War.

Landon House is most famous for having been the host site of legendary Confederate General (and bon vivant) J.E.B. Stuart famous dance, known as the Sabers and Roses Ball, held right before the Battle of Antietam.  Antietam is considered to be the bloodiest one-day battle in American history, with over 23,000 dead, wounded or missing in less than seven hours.  After Antietam, the Landon House went from "hospitality to hospital" as a medical center for the wounded and dying soldiers retreating to Virginia.  Where just a few days earlier Landon had been the scene of such mirth and joy, it was now a field hospital of unimaginable pain, suffering, death and sadness.

A special thank you to Kevin from the Landon House in allowing us this opportunity to investigate!
