He was a sawyer-shipbuilder-master of industry.He was knocked down by a blow in a drunken brawl and was buried in either Nov or May 1837.

Hokianga by Jack Lee. Thomas was once in partnership with C Harris and had purchased land at the mouth of the river next to Marmon. The fight was over a proposal to prohibit the sale of liquor in the harbour. The fatal blow was delivered during the fight involving Jacky Marmon and Samuel Egert and Thomas, all neighbours.
