Thomas Scott and Ann Louisa Russell married in Sydney after arriving there from England. They came to New Zealand after the birth of their son, Thomas Flower Scott. They arrived in New Zealand on-board the 'Nimrod' with James, Margaret and Elizabeth Hawkins which left Sydney in September 1835. Thomas and Flower Russell, his brother-in-law who arrived six months later, had two land claims, 348 and 208. In 1837 another son named George is born.
They lived at Parau Bay near Whangarei and went into boat building.
