Details: Born County Meath in 1803, Thomas was transported to Australia on the 'Countess of Harcourt' in 1822. He was given leave to come to New Zealand in 1829 to work at the Hokianga shipyard. In 1834 he married at Sydney to Mary, a native of New Zealand in the presence of John Dempsey and Thomas Poynter. In 1838 he was working at Waima with John Ryan, John Brooks, all sawyers. His wife and children were not included in this census.
