Robert Hunt: I am a licensed victualler residing near Auckland. I have a daughter, Susan (born about 1836) who married William Watt and who has since died. I have a daughter, Elizabeth (born 19th April 1838). Catherine Hunt sworn said. I am the wife of Robert Hunt and was married to him on the 19th February 1841 at Hokianga. I did not know Elizabeth Hunt before my marriage, she was residing at Hokianga with a neighbour and was about two or three years old.
Mr Dry said, there was no evidence to prove the father’s first marriage, and none as to the second marriage except the declaration of the man himself, and his wife that they were married ; they ought to have evidence of the marriages and then they ought to have proof that the person was the daughter of the prosecutor.
